Andrew looked after me when he was a specialist stoma nurse at the local hospital and has subsequently reviewed me via NAMS. He has always given me time, listened to my concerns and treated me with respect and dignity.

My appointment with NAMS was at home by videolink. I like to think the location ie my home was totally clean so have answered accordingly. This was my first medical appointment by videolink and was a positive experience in every way. The NAMS stoma care nurse was empathetic, easy to talk to and listen to, inspiring confidence as she was clearly knowledgeable, experienced and highly competent. This stoma review reinforced my opinion of NAMS as a patient-focused, holistic service to NHS patients, of invaluable professional and emotional support to people for whom the experience of using a colostomy might otherwise prove psychologically threatening. A newcomer to remote technological access to healthcare, based on my experience I would feel confident in recommending the NAMS model as an example of best practice. As an NHS patient of long standing and in a range of contexts, I believe in best practice becoming widespread standard practice.

Today in clinic I saw Tammy Temple, she instantly put me at ease with her warm and friendly welcome. Tammy was great in helping me around my stoma care and had some useful tips. Shes a great nurse and would recommend her to everyone. I feel much more at ease and confident that I'm well looked after has I have one prt of call for my stoma care.

I was welcomed at the door by a lady that took my temperature and I was asked to sanitise my hands, I can’t remember the lady’s name but it was a nice warm welcome, I was asked to sit down until the nurse come and got me, this was my first time here and was a bit nervous I was then greeted by a nurse named Tammy who was absolutely brilliant and made me feel very calm straight away, I was here for an examination of my stoma but I couldn’t have been in better hands, nothing was to much trouble and she asked me many questions and even asked if I was doing any exercises to help my hernia, I never even thought that I could do exercises to help this but fair play I will be trying them, I don’t think you could do anything to improve my my visit today 100% praise thank you so much.

The N.A.M.S. Prescription service is very good. I have been using them for five and a half years and every time i have phoned them; they are always very patient and kind. They always ask me how i am, and they have never made a mistake. Very reliable.

The visit came about because I asked to change my stoma products having sourced samples from other suppliers myself. Initially I spoke with Dillon (I didn’t catch his surname) on the phone and his level of customer service was some of the best I have ever come across, he was fantastic! Nothing was too much trouble, very polite, friendly and knowledgeable. This led to a phone call and an appointment with Andrew Bird who again was brilliant. Having had 2 stomas now for almost 5 years I would say this was the single most informative and beneficial meeting I have had with any health care professional. I couldn’t have asked for more! The only negative I can think of is that I have not been dealing with these 2 people for the past 5 years. Between the 2 of them they have opened my eyes as to what NAMS are really there for.
